TMSG Publisher Enters Writing Stage of New Book: "African Americans in Aurora, IL: 1921-1955

The task of writing what it was like for African Americans growing up in Aurora, IL began a number of years ago. After numerous interviews of Aurora African Americans and combing through the microfilm of Beacon-News papers from 1921-1955, Sherman Jenkins has entered the writing stage for his second book: "African Americans in Aurora, IL: 1921-1955.

"It's been a labor of love," said Jenkins. "However, I am still hoping to have other African Americans to step forward and allow me to interview them. Each interview is recorded and conducted at the Santori Library in downtown Aurora.

Anyone born in Aurora during the late 1930s or 1940s are being asked to contact Mr. Jenkins. He can be reached at macderm1956@yahoo.com or via cell ata (630) 450-3391. The following is the presentation he gave at the Aurora Public Library regarding the progress of his research
