Editor's Note: TMSG has always been about "telling our readers somethin' good." Well, the passing of long-time Aurora restaurant owner Larry Thomas is not telling you somethin' good but we wanted you to know that his life and business dedication was WORTH knowing...
Long-time Aurora restaurant owner, Larry Alvis Thomas, of LT's Chicken & Fish, passed away February 28th after a long illness. He was 78 years old. For more than two decades LT's, as it was affectionately called, was a well-known staple in the Aurora, IL region for outstanding ribs, chicken, fish, hotlinks and many other southern dishes that made your mouth water with delight.
In 1993, Mr. Thomas was among the founding members of the Aurora Area African American Chamber of Commerce which eventually become the Quad County African American Chamber of Commerce.
A Celebration of Life was held Friday, March 6th at Gayles Memorial Baptist Church, 730 Gillette Avenue, Aurora, IL. His son, Rev. Dr. Juan R. Thomas, gave a moving and heartfelt eulogy regarding his father. Thumbs up to the James-Paynes Funeral Service and Gayles Memorial Baptist Church. Rest in Peace, LT!
