Kane County Circuit Court Judge Candidate Brittany Pedersen's Wins Democratic Spot With Over 40,000 Votes

Aurora, IL – Aurora attorney Brittany Michelle Pedersen won the Democratic nomination with more than 40,000 votes for the position of circuit judge for the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit of Kane County, Illinois. Brittany will face-off against the Republican nominee in November 2020.

 

“I am running for Judge in Kane County to bring fairness, diversity, legal knowledge and professionalism to the Kane County judiciary. As a lawyer, mother, businesswoman, and advocate, I have fought for the constitutional rights and interests of individuals, with compassion for their families,” Pedersen said. “My dedication to the rule of law along with experience in courtrooms and communities have prepared me well to serve with impartial compassion as Kane County’s next Circuit Court Judge.”

 

Currently the owner and managing partner of the Law Offices of Pedersen, Campbell & Irvin, Brittany began her distinguished legal career with the Kane County Public Defender's Office in 2009 where Brittany represented indigent defendant’s as an Assistant Public Defender.

 

In 2012, Brittany had the opportunity to join the firm of long-time mentor, Donald M. Tegeler, Jr., with a practice concentrated on criminal defense litigation, business law and family law. In 2014, Brittany was honored to be named partner in the Law Office of Tegeler & Pedersen where she served individuals in Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will Counties until she founded her own firm, Brittany M. Pedersen & Associates, which later merged with Richard Irvin & Associates to form Pedersen, Campbell & Irvin.

 

Brittany was born in St. Charles, raised in Elgin, and lives in Aurora with her 2-year-old twin daughters. A graduate of Duke University, Brittany earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Political Economics in 2001. After a period of time working for Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan where she was a legislative affairs and crime victim’s rights assistant in the criminal division, Brittany resolved to continue her education and was awarded her Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago, School of Law in 2008.

 

Brittany Pedersen is also a business owner and entrepreneur in Kane County.  She is the majority owner of her family’s landscape contracting business, Pedersen Company, located in St. Charles, Illinois.

 

Ms. Pedersen is a board member and President-Elect of the Illinois Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (IACDL). She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Kane County Bar Association. She has been asked to speak at seminars for the Chicago Bar Association, Northern Illinois public defenders’ offices and the IACDL. In her community Ms. Pedersen is a governing board member of Two River’s Head Start. A dual citizen of the United States and Denmark with fluency in Danish, Brittany celebrates her heritage as a member of the Danish American Athletic Society, and Midwest Danish Chamber of Commerce.
